Common BMW issues
N20 / B48 engines
Timing chain and tensioner are weak points, especially on N20 before 2015. Regular ISTA check of tensioner condition recommended.
N47 / B47 diesel
Timing chain at the rear of the engine — expensive to replace. Noise at cold start is an early warning sign.
ZF 8HP gearbox
BMW specifies "lifetime" fluid — but we recommend changing it every 80,000–100,000 km. Adaptation required after oil change.
xDrive / transfer case
Transfer case and rear differential oil changes are often skipped. We check and service at correct intervals.
Parts for BMW
